Short disclaimer: Not officially connected to or endorsed by Weight Watchers. Just my hobby.
From Fooducate: About two months ago, researchers released the results of a series of studies revealing that an antioxidant called “resveratrol” had a positive effect on metabolism. Now, it turns out that the data might have been cooked, massaged, or even faked. (Null results are boring: “We did a series of studies on reservatrol and it had very little effect” isn't an interesting news story.)
Chow.com has a recipe for making your own kimchi! Serious Eats has a very good piece on guacamole, how to make it, how not to make it (“Ever try pouring fancy balsamic vinegar into your guacamole? Or how roasting your avocado before mashing it? These are things I strongly advise against trying …”), and a few technical tips (“Perfectly ripe avocados are a pain in the a** to find”). And Summer Tomato has a sardonic article on “9 Surefire Ways to Sabotage Your Weight Loss” (pick an inconvenient diet, dramatically restrict your eating, start a hard workout regimen) and a great piece that will be doubly useful for us all, so much so that I'm going to bold it: “10 Tips for Eating Healthy On A Budget”!
The 20th of this month is both National Granola Bar Day and National Coffee Break Day, so have a granola bar with your coffee. The 23rd is National Pie Day, not to be confused with National Pi Day which is March 14th. One week from tonight is Burns Night, for which haggis is the traditional fare. I'm not sure such a thing as a Points-friendly haggis exists. And the 21st, this Saturday, is National Soup Swap Day!
