Week beginning April 21st

Tomorrow, the 22nd, besides being Earth Day (I know not one person here had been warned of that), is National Jellybean Day. Twelve Jelly Belly jellybeans are one Point. Sunday, the 25th, is National Zucchini Bread Day: a low-fat zucchini bread that is two Points per slice can be found here. The day after, the 26th, is National Pretzel Day, and hard pretzels are still pretty much fat-free.

April 21st: Chocolate Covered Cashew Truffle Day
April 22nd: National Jelly Bean Day
April 23rd: National Cherry Cheesecake Day, National Picnic Day
April 24th: National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day
April 25th: National Zucchini Bread Day
April 26th: National Pretzel Day
April 27th: National Prime Rib Day
April 28th: National Blueberry Pie Day

Trivia question: What do the following items have in common (I’ve highlighted what seem to me, judging only from the names, to be the “healthy” choices): a Burger King Triple Whopper, a Burger King Tendercrisp Garden Salad, a Burger King Original or Tendercrisp Chicken Sandwich; a McDonald’s Angus Mushroom and Swiss Burger, a McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, a five-piece order of McDonald’s Chicken Selects; a Wendy’s Baconator Double, a Wendy’s Chicken BLT Salad with Honey Dijon Dressing, and a Wendy’s Southwest Taco Salad with ranch dressing and tortilla chips? Trivia answer: Each of them – every single one – is higher in calories and has more grams of fat than a KFC Original Recipe Double Down. And except for the Triple Whopper and the Angus Mushroom & Swiss Burger, every one is higher in sodium as well.
