Happy Cinco de Mayo!

It’s definitely Spring arching towards Summer, which means a delicious surfeit of berries and asparagus. Sweet corn is arriving: stone fruits will be a few more weeks yet.

Consumerist is reporting that a new product called Slim Chips – crunchy, flavored, edible snack chips made of paper – will be available in stores sometime this summer.

Besides being Cinco de Mayo, today has also been National Hoagie Day. Tomorrow is International No Diet Day, a celebration of health at every size and day to raise awareness of weight discrimination, fatphobia and size bias. It is followed on May 11th by Eat What You Want Day, which at least to my mind carries an implication of not eating what you don’t want: eat what you want, then when you're satisfied, stop eating!

And this Saturday is the National Letter Carriers’ Food Drive, so leave some non-perishable groceries beside your mailbox Friday night or Saturday morning.
